Project Summary

Kennedy Woods worked alongside a team of specialists to develop and realise a large-scale, striking retrospective exhibition for Virgin Records 40th anniversary in September 2013.

In order to speed up the install, we inverted the way scaffolding is typically used, by creating a concertina of \/, / / and /\ shape scaffold planks to form uprights, that were able to flat pack down for transit and later open out and be fixed with scaffold poles inserted horizontally to lock the units together.

This same language of connections and detailing was copied across all elements, from the bench design to the system of display for a huge range of memorabilia across four decades of music history.
